Onsite Septic Systems

Under the authority of the Montgomery County Sewer Ordinance, health department staff provide installers and homeowners with information and review onsite sewage system permit applications.

The fee for an onsite sewage system permit is $165.00. The Septic Permit Application Packet should be completed by the homeowner or the installer and sent to the Montgomery County Health Department for review.

Staff also follow up on complaints regarding onsite sewage systems.

Property owners may only install their own systems if they attend class and pass the test at DHSS.
